The company also carries Eagletronic chargers for charging lead-acid batteries of all types and voltages.
Company founder Abbas Jamal started the company as a forklift parts distributor in 1986 in Cambridge, Ontario. In 1995, he added used forklifts, pallet jacks and forks. In 2006 he opened a distribution center in Carlisle, Pa., which he moved, along with the head office, to Sanford. Jamco also maintains distribution centers in Cambridge, Ontario, and Denver.
The company also runs an extensive rental operation. “We rent everything from battery chargers and forklifts to pallet jacks,” said rental department manager Carol Fontanez. “I receive a lot of calls from starter companies, and one of their biggest concerns is staying within budget. Their second concern is ‘Is this machine going to work?’ The last thing they want to deal with is a broken-down piece of machinery within a deadline. I am very proud of our rental department, as we ensure the customer receives not only affordable pricing but a quality product.”
The company serves the Southeast including Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South and North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi. The company also provides forklift-related services in Canada.
The company’s battery offerings include Bulldog industrial batteries. Another popular product, the Eagle55 pallet truck, features a one-piece, cast-iron German design pump with a three-year warranty and offers long life and easy servicing.
